Teaching is our passion

I am excited to say I’m the founder and owner of Nature and Nurture Academy! I’m a mother to a very bright, advanced 12 yr. old boy. Before starting NANA I worked in the medical field in surgical pathology. I founded the daycare because I have never felt more fulfilled then when I was teaching children. Seeing the “ah ha!” moment on their faces, watching them strive for milestones and embracing their joyful hugs is a priceless feeling. While I’m still keeping current with my medical license my true passion is teaching pre-school aged children. I created this daycare/pre-school alternative with a parent’s perspective in mind as well as years of research on child and brain development. Everything that NANA offers is something that I would have loved to have had as an option for my own son. I’m still very passionate about medicine so needless to say your children will learn quite a bit of anatomy and medicine as well. My own son did rounds with residents and could probably come close to passing medical boards just from hanging around me for 11 years. I have researched child brain development and will head up majority of the educational aspects of our program. My own child and others I have had in my care are markedly advanced for their ages. My own child began reading fluently at 4 years old. My goal as a parent and caregiver is for the children to be able to do anything they want when they get older and for it to come easy for them because they have a solid educational foundation.

Levi

Male presence in childcare is sorely underrepresented! Levi is the energetic, creative force of our team. As a big kid himself, kids flock to him!!! I’ve never met a more patient person, especially with children. While Leah and I are great, Levi will most likely end up being your child’s favorite because of his playful nature and ability to really connect with children. We jokingly call him our child whisperer. He has the most direct childcare experience out of the three of us. He has been in childcare for over 10 years. Levi’s interests include dress up, imagination and creative games (adults call it LARPing, live action role play ha ha), medieval adventures, history and world cultures, gardening, cooking and he is our Spanish education expert.

Leah

Leah is finishing up her degree in childhood education with an emphasize on special needs. Leah is currently our main infant instructor. As a natural born teacher Leah heads up our yoga and mindfulness education. She also speaks Spanish and is learning Mandarin Chinese. She enjoys connecting with children through play and is a very patient teacher with those who have special needs or who struggle with behavioral issues or those who are just shy. She has the ability to draw children out of their shells and bring out the best in them.
